Matt opened TruVision Studios in 2003. With nearly two decades of experience behind the camera, capturing hundreds of wedding stories, TruVision Studios has become one of the best-respected wedding photography and videography studios in Grand Rapids. Matt definitely shines on the technical side of the job! His knowledge combined with his experience is the reason why the creativity behind his storytelling looks so beautiful. Matt pays attention to every detail from lighting to composition, editing, sound, and color.
Matt holds workshops throughout the year teaching upcoming wedding videographers and photographers everything from the basics to advanced lighting. Layla met her now-husband Matt in 2017, and the two decided to take TruVision Studios to another level by adding wedding photography to the roster, as well as expanding the team. Offering both videography and photography has really opened new doors creatively, allowing Layla to work her magic behind the camera. She enjoys working together with the team to push the artistry and quality of their work.
As a former wedding coordinator, Layla is very familiar with helping couples create their perfect wedding. She is continuously working to perfect her wedding photography in order to ensure each couple’s day is exactly what they envision. She loves authentic candid moments, creative posing and helping couples feel comfortable in front of the camera. Matt started TruVision Studios in 2003, after graduating from high school. Originally based in Holt, Michigan, he ran the business while he studied Motion Picture Production at Lansing Community College. The business grew quickly in those first few years and took on a wide variety of projects. Matt produced music videos, TV commercials, corporate projects, and medical and surgical videos. TruVision Studios eventually found a niche in wedding videography, and by 2010 wedding filmmaking had become the primary focus.
Matt got into wedding videography during a revolutionary time and shared a vision with several other young wedding filmmakers around the world. They wanted to bring the techniques and tools of Hollywood to wedding videography. Wedding videography was moving away from just being a long recording of the day’s events, and the vision was to tell deeper, more meaningful, emotional, and entertaining stories!
In 2017, Matt met wedding photographer, and now wife, Layla. The two decided to take TruVision Studios to another level by adding wedding photography and expanding the team.
Layla carried the same vision for storytelling and artistry into the photography side of the studio. She is constantly perfecting and evolving her style and expanding creatively by attending wedding photography workshops and pushing the entire photo team to the next level.
